Chatter...

Please post any widsom for the new parents, any prayers, Bible verses, encouragement, etc etc!

  1. My little bit of wisdom for today is this: Don't get pulled into the highly political/emotional arguments about raising kids. (For instance: sleep training, childcare, etc.) So many times the arguments are based on an ideology that doesn't really work so well when applied to the specifics of your family and your child. Yes, it is great to have ideals, and they make great guiding principles, but it is so easy to feel like a failure when you aren't able to keep to them exactly... and that isn't good for you or your family.

  2. Another bit to share: Somewhere I read or heard that babies grow and change so fast that it is like having a different kid every six weeks. I'm not sure exactly what they meant by that, but I did find it to be true that when I was particularly concerned about some "new trend" that frequently it was just a stage to wait through. "My baby won't drink milk!" or "He won't eat anything besides rice crackers!" or "He keeps knocking his head on the only hard spot in his entire bed!" Give it some time and things change. :)
